Life is Better Spicy

Life is Better Spicy was founded in Calgary, Alberta. Our journey began with a sombre event on June 22nd, 2020, a day that altered my life indefinitely. It marked my final overdose following an almost twenty-year struggle with alcohol and stimulant abuse. The substances had nearly triumphed. After a hospital stay to evaluate the repercussions of the stroke and near heart failure from the overdose, I discovered my sense of taste had significantly diminished. During the rehabilitation process, the specialist I consulted with informed me that my sense of taste may never return, luckily this was not the case. In the weeks that followed, I started to notice a hint of hot sauce and could definitely feel the burn. I underwent residential addictions treatment here in Calgary, where the meals were nutritious and top-notch, yet my taste buds were limited to only extreme sour, sweet, or spicy tastes. I started exploring the hottest sauces available online and noticed the very limited options for Canadians to add some spice to their lives with locally produced hot sauce.
